This item has nothing to do with me and I have no knowledge of it, but there is a Drascombe Lugger for sale on ebay which includes the words

"Also looking to sell a Torquedo electric outboard which has been used on the Drascombe for £100 cash on collection if interested. "

Its too far away for me, but unless there is something seriously wrong with it, that is a bargain price for the battery alone! It doesn't feature in the Photographs.

Chris,

He doesn't specify which model it is but I suspect that at that price, it's probably an 801, the delicate and unreliable predecessor to the current series.

For curiosity i did contact the seller and he responded :

"The outboard is just over 5 years old and is the old Base Travel 401 model, it does not have a built in battery"

I will stick with my trusty Minn-Kota for reservoirs and my 4hp Yamaha for coastal work.

Peter,

Wise choice!

The 401 was delicate, unreliable and even more underpowered than the 801.  Torqeedo themselves used to rate it as equivalent to a 1HP petrol engine.
