I'm considering trying to sail to Skomer from Milford Haven over the next Bank Holiday.

Unfortunately it's a Spring tide so I'll need to get the timing right for Jack Sound but I think it's doable, is anyone interested in joining us?

Usually we're a family of 4 in a BRE but other sports commitments mean this trip will just be me and one 11 year old crew member. We've sailed around Milford Haven a couple of times and have got out to Stokholm Island before but have not yet made it to Skomer.

The tides that weekend mean that if there's not much swell it might be possible to pull up on the beach at South Haven on Sunday night rather than having to get through Jack Sound and relying on there being a free visitors buoy in North Haven. The photo's I've found suggest it's a stone beach but it's hard to tell if landing might be an option, has anyone tried it?

Just had an email from the Skomer warden saying that the landing area at South Haven is not available to the public, so it'll have to be North Haven.

The good news is that he reckons it's very unlikely all three North Haven visitor moorings will be taken.
