The track rods on the BC26 from the rudder to the stocks have what I can only describe as an external circlip or an e clip?. Please see the pictures and do not remark on the rust which I am trying to remove!!

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement and is it s specialist part or something off the shelf?

I am going to try some circlips but any help would be appreciated.

I'm  not aware of the details of the BC26, but if you look carefully you may well find another clip the same in the linkage. Use this as a pattern, and visit an outboard motor mechanic to get spares.
Failing that, you may get lucky with that stub? Depends on how helpful the guy is....

Imho...that is not a circlip, but perhaps what I would call a  "wire C clip". You really want a stainless one, or buy several  and change yearly. Probably fairly critical for steering function, as you may have discovered?

Circlips are generally stamped out of "plate" spring steel. Propable too flimsy/rusty to fit there?
Your "rusty" linkage (and associated clip) is not 316 SS, more likely "chinesium"  >:( therefore not your fault!

You sometimes see similar clips on cars/industrial engines too, as a form of locking device to secure plug in wire or hose connectors.

Something like this?

Happy to try to help with anything NOT related to electronics  ;)
