In the next month or so I will be taking delivery of a BRe from Matt; very excited! I will have to insure the boat, do members have any thoughts, comments or recommendations re suitable insurers?

I have my Bayraider insured with Saga annual cost £160 this includes trailer, electric and yamaha 4 hp outboard. Covers coastal sailing around the UK. Claimed once in 4 yrs when bits and bobs got stollen, they didn't query the claim and paid up with a week of posting it.

My BRe is insured with Craftinsure (http://www.craftinsure.com), costs £170 and seems to give all the cover I need. But I've never had to make a claim and I guess that's the real test.

I insured my new BRe with Haven Knox-Johnstone (Amlin Gp) because I used them for a previous boat some time ago and they paid out without hassle after a dismasting in a race. I have no no claims discount as the previous one lapsed some years ago and have paid 223.60 for boat, trailer and Yamaha 4hp.
You're right to be excited - my boat has exceeded every expectation so far and am off to Scotland for Sail Caledonia this Friday for a full trial.
Good luck

I've used Bishop Skinner for several years and they have proved excellent and very helpful when I lost my mainsail and boom. I would be happy to recommend them. Can't remember what they cost, but their performance when needed was worth it, whatever it was.
