Cutting ropes and soldering cables

A tip:

A friend who is engaged in car restorations gave me one of these new jet flame lighters. They give an extremely hot and focused flame. Stormproof btw.

I found it brilliant aboard, especially for cutting and melting ropes.
And for soldering cables, even where I was previously struggling with an electric solderer.

I had a gas soldering iron that you could use with either a soldering tip or a tiny focussed jet. I then bought a 'hot knife' attachment for it that cut ropes and sailcloth. Unfortunately, I've lost the attachment and can't find it online anymore.

Edit: found it! from Antex Uk. Also used the soldering iron tip to join some wires for my manual bilge pump.
